fractal as art/music space

fractal_twitterfractal is alive, it’s loud, it’s growing, changing, maturing. In a time where music venues in downtown Phoenix are drying up like your front lawn in summer, we are keeping ourselves firmly rooted in the downtown community. We understand that we are in a symbiotic relationship with the creative people around us; as one grows, so does the other.

Local music is what drives fractal as a venue. Indie, avant garde, lo-fi, folk, hip hop, any genre, language, ethnicity, are all welcome within our giant sliding door. Right here would be a good place to insert a great metaphor about pies of all flavors (we’re located inside of an old pie factory) but we like to think we’re above that. So let us just say that our goal as a venue is to expose the community around us to the wildly creative people living right next door.

As for the venue itself, it’s as dynamic as the people inside it. With constantly changing local artwork and a growing community bike shop, fractal will never be the same each week. This fluid sense of self applies to the shows as well. The artists can make the space as intimate or theatrical as they like. Our hope is that artists can be free to create something new, something original inside fractal and pass it on to those in the audience.
